copies of strategy document: Realising the potential. developing a blueprint for a self care strategy for England

This blueprint for a national self-care strategy is designed to start conversations about how self-care can be embedded in health pathways to support people to self-care.

Please read, share and use it widely. Please link to this site from your own websites.

Join us in supporting the NHS and the public to self-care by calling for a national self-care strategy.

Here are some actions you can take in support of this campaign:

  • Provide a quote explaining why you/ your organisation support the blueprint strategy, or why self-care is important, for inclusion on this website.

  • Like and share social media posts about #selfcarestrategy from @PAGBSelfCare and our partners.

  • Write a blog about an aspect of self-care and in support of the recommendations in this blueprint.

  • Raise points made in this document with health policymakers at a national and local level – share updates with us at selfcare@pagb.co.uk.

MPs and Peers have an important role in holding the Government to account on its health policy.  We welcome support from members of both Houses of Parliament. Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Writing to your local PCN and ICS to ask what plans they have to embed self-care into the primary care pathway to help signpost people to self-care and reduce pressures on their network.

  • Ask the Government what it is doing to promote self-care at the national level and whether it has plans to develop a national self-care strategy to integrate self care into the wider health system.

  • Raise awareness in Parliament around the importance of self-care in helping to reduce pressure on primary and secondary care and the role of pharmacies in supporting people to self-care.

If you would like any further information on self care, or support to take these actions forward please contact us on selfcare@pagb.co.uk.
